OME 2" medium duty lift

ok, after a lot of research iv decided this is the right lift for me.

my questions are:

will i need an adjustable trackbar?

my jeep has ABS, but the differential has a flat bottom...iv read some things that say this is contradictory, the 8.25 doesnt/cant have abs?

and also, from almost everything iv read, i MOST LIKELY will not need a SYE or t-case drop with a 2inch lift.

i plan on fitting 30 or 31 BFG ATs, for light wheeling and just would like to fit them with minimal trimming, and OME seems to be the best on-road/DD lift.

i understand that i will also have to extend bumpstops etc etc or else ill rip off the stock flares at full stuff.

any advice is appreciated, thanks.

You may need to shim down the tcase a tad to fine tune the rear driveshaft geometry. You should also be OK with the stock track bar. The axle will be slightly off center, but not enough to matter. If you want to see how much it will be off, just jack up the body 2" and take a look.

I have the 2" OME kit. Stock trackbar. Right when I got the kit on, the packs were riding high (about 3") and to keep driveability I put a TC drop in. When the packs settled, I took the drop out. No major vibes, just some slight ones from 50-60.

Due to the 31s I am going to be trimming before I do any more wheeling because I've chewed up both rear fenders. A lot of whether or not you'll need to trim depends on the backspacing of your wheels though.

Overall, I love the kit. Rides WAY better than stock, although quite stiff. My .02

the best price i found was buying it in pieces from quadratec, ended up about 50 dollars cheaper then their set.

im putting on 16x8 moabs after the lift, idk the backspacing on them actually.

4point~ how long did it take for it to settle? id rather not have to fab up and install a t-case drop just to remove it.

Try dpgoffroad.com - he deals with the OME kits and parts. I have the medium duty 2.5" rear leaf spring pack.

I also have the Dana 35 - and yes, that is what you have if you have ABS (unless there's some upgrade I don't know about). I think the tech sticky has a link to pictures of both the 8.25 and the Dana 35 if you need to compare. I put in the SYE anyway, not sure if I needed it. I was trying to keep it as cost-friendly as possible, (but - now I'm going higher anyway), so I'm glad I did the SYE - one less item to install later when you go up. Less wear-n-tear on your TC too. Adjustable track bar was not needed.

I did 30" BFG AT/KOs on mine - and on a 2-3" lift, I really like the look - no rubbing so far, and it doesn't look like I stuffed every possible square inch of space with tire - it's a preference thing, but I like some space on my fender wells. (But - I'm going higher and onto 31's now) I did mount up some 31's and had slight rubbing on the interior portion of my fender - very slight.

(I'm actually 3" in the front).

Maybe I can find some pics for you.

It settled in about 2 weeks or so. It would have been quicker but I was running it with next to no weight in the back.

P.S. The leafsprings don't come with bushings so make sure to grab a set

I started with OME and loved the ride. I did ACOS in the front to allow for adjustability and leveling. They'll lift the front 1.5" just installing them if you don't want to swap the front springs. I ran 31" X-Terrains on the OME/ACOS front and OME/extended shackle rear without rubbing problems but did get vibrations 40 - 60 mph. Install a SYE and swap in a JY front driveshaft in the rear for a cheap CV driveshaft (Shim the rear axle if you do). I also did an adjustable trackbar but I knew this wasn't going to be my last lift. Just some ideas for ya! Good luck!

I have the 2"front(didn't install 1" spacers)/3" rear lift on mine with 245s(just about a 31) on mine, Moabs and 1" spacers . No vibs so far but a already have a SYE and front shaft I want to install this spring. I already had the front bumper corners trimmed to the level with the bumper when everything was installed and almost ripped the front bumper caps off offroad. I then just cut the caps so they are away from the flares. I am good with this set up with stock lca and trackbar but I do rub the rear of the front flares every once in a while with big turns into bumps but I have a set of LCAs i need to install.

I bought mine off from Jason at jeepinoutfitters.com as when I tried contacting dirk he never gave me straightforward pricing when I emailed him and Jason was awesome in his responses and service.
Here's some pics before trimming the caps:

How the caps are now:

This is the c8.25, notice the flat bottom on the center section, and the raised lip on the cover. the d35 has neither of these.

I have the ABS light also, but no ABS. I think all XJ's are equipped with the light whether or not they have the ABS or not. Have you checked under the hood for an ABS pump? I don't have one.
