Oil Pressue Maxed Out

Really confused by this one. Changed the sending unit on my 2000 roughly 3 weeks ago and oil pressure read like normal (around 60 during acceleration, 45 at idle). Yesterday, I crank it only to find my oil pressure gauge maxed out. I drove it back to school that way and had no issues. I drove it earlier today and no change, pressure gauge is maxed out Any idea of what could be the matter?

Thanks!

If you bought the sending unit from autozone or advanced or the like it is likely faulty. I only use the ones from jeep because of the same problems with 2 in a row from autozone.

Could be the gauge. I have a 97 that done the same thing. Changed the sending unit an nothing. Finally swapped the gauge out with another one an it started working properly.

This is a very common problem, if you change your oil like i did and accidently tap it hard enough it pegged mine out aswell, buy a new one and replace it, its very easy.

if it pegs while the motor is off (key in the on position) then its a bad sender.

I got the sender from Jeep and like I said, just replaced it. Gauge does peg when motor is off and key is in on position. More than likely the sending unit I got was no good?

sorry for a thread jack, but its kinda the same topic, but just saying, my pressure gauge kinda fluxuates, like it stays right around 40 but sometimes its right above, sometimes it right below, some time its right on 40, but mine moves around slightly
