Offroad!!! (pics)

Well after having the jeep for about 3 months now, I finally was able to do some offroading! I was up on my firends private property in New Hampton, NY (orange county).

The terrain there is alot of fun... lose dirt/gravel, deep forest & leaves, open fields with lots of tall reeds, and some good ditches with alot of mud. My cherokee is BONE stock, and I guess seeing is believing... I've heard from you guys on here that I'd be shocked at what the XJ could do in stock trim, and BOY were you right! This thing tackled every thing i threw at it. There was only one incline that it couldn't make it up which I think was because my Goodyears are nearing the end of their life, and the treads were not digging in. (see 2nd pic)

The only casualty of the day was a slashed sidewall that forced me to buy a new tire yesterday. (BFG Long Trail T/A) I should have a video made up by the end of the week, but here's a couple of the better pictures:

I don't know any other daily drivers that can do that well offroad and make it to the office the next morning....This pretty much sums it up:

hey waketek516, this is a little off topic, but did you purchase that rear cargo area cover, or did it come stock. If it came stock, does anyone know where I can get one for a 96 Xj, ive looked for one but i guess im looking in the wrong places

x3 - I'd love to have something to cover my amp / sub / biking gear.

I'd prefer not to have to break out the sewing machine since my girlfriend always makes fun of me when I do - at least until she needs me to fix something.... then I've got to kick the cat or something to re-establish my standing as a chest thumping, hairy knuckled, unibrowed type.

Besides, it's so much more gratifying using the sawzall.

Honestly... it wouldn't be that hard to make if you had some canvass. There's just four clips on the corners to hold it to the cargo rings on the spare tire cover & on the panel on the passenger side

Your spare tire cover has cargo rings?
