nss driving me crazy

I have a 98 cherokee 4.0 4sp auto with the 300$ nss. It has been been giving me problems for a while but would always start in neutral. Went to the store a couple of days ago and it is still in that parking lot..... Tried neutral and every other trick i could find, on the net. I just want to unplug the nss beside the engine on the top side so that i can get it to my garage and not in a parking lot and will rebuild the nss. My only problem is that everyone online said jump the black and black with yellow and it will start. Mine won't. If i unplug the nss from the top how can i jump the connectors to let me get it started just to get it home??

Please help the newbie

Not to sound insulting.... but you are jumping the terminals on the engine side of the harness right? Because if you jump the switch itself - that won't do anything.

Here's a diagram of the connector and what wires should have continuity in what position. This view is of the switch side of the connector. For jumping, you'll need to translate the letters of the terminals on the switch connector to the corresponding terminals on the engine connector. So, looking at this, you need to jump the middle two terminals on the side of the connector opposite the retaining clip (B and C, in this view).

This is what i need to know but that is for the wrong year. I think they changed from 97-01 to a different plug. Mine is 8 wires but 3 on 2 on 3 not 4 on 4.

Do the NSS Rebuild like the man said. I just did mine less than an hour ago and it took me about an hour taking my time(most of it was slowly but surely removing the nss from the shaft, use a small stanley wonderbar) mine fires right up after that and for some reason actually turns over quicker now. I was going to start a thread but just figured i would chime in on yours with an exceptionally long run on setence and horrible punctuation.LOL
