np231 wont go into 2h???

Hey guys, my dad put a np231 tc out of a 99 xj into his zj and he then installed a sye. Now even when the linkage is in 2h, the tc is engaged in 4h?? What the heck? Please any info or comments regarding the problem would be awesome.

Thanks

Was he replacing a 231 or 242?
Is he sure the linkage is hooked up correctly?

Linkage is probably adjusted wrong. Try disconnecting it and shifting it by hand to make sure it engages into 2wd. If it does, adjust the linkage accordingly.

He replaced a 249 and had a shop install the SYE

He unhooked all the linkage and moved shift arm completly into 2H and left it unhooked, but still 4H is still engaged..

Could they have installed the SYE incorrectly????

There is no common 231 problem that causes that. You should be talking with the shop that did the SYE install about getting it to work correctly.

A recent Gallup public opinion poll shows the NRA, at 58% approval, has a higher approval rating than either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.
