No power under hard acceleration
Hey Guys, I need some advice on what to look for. I have a 1989 4.0 Cheerokee with about 150k miles, and this is an automatic. There are a few issues I want to get fixed, but I will note one issue in this post. When under hard acceleration the Jeep acts like is is gasping for gas or something. I can tell that it is trying real hard to accelerate and the Jeep seems to recoginize that the pedal is down hard, but again it seems to be choking. If I accelerate at a normal rate there is no sign of the problem. Has anyone had this same problem and if so what was the fix? Any other advice would be appreciated. Thanks
BTW, I my exhaust is rattling around the CAT area too, maybe this is related.

Sounds like a clogged cat. Sometimes they break up and turn sideways. Just go get it replaced. HTH

Mine does this too occasionally, but only under 3000 rpm. Once it hits 3000 it takes off pretty quick.
