New rear leaf bushings.... how can I get them in the leaf?

I bought some new bushings for new leafs I bought, but how do I get them in?

The new bushings seem to be in a metal sleeve, and it doesnt fit into the leaf very well, I only have a 5lb hammer, and with it and a block of wood I cant even get it started.

Do I just need a bigger hammer?

Could try lightly warming the spring ends with a propane torch to expand the metal. I had a similar iinstall like this and I used lots of penatrateing oil inside and on the bushing and then a lot of swinging.

If you have a fab shop intown they can probably press them in for you and not risk damaging them in doing so.

The fab shop wants 65 bucks to press them in, even after they admit its only 5 minutes work.
Several other places wouldnt press them in unless they did the install. Kinda gay.

I wonder if I can jack them in against the motorhome frame or something? its gotta weight enough (46' coach)

Thats not a bad idea, put them between something really solid and then use a bottle jack to press them in. Its the same basic idea for a tool that shops have, except that with those machines, you press down and not up. Give it a shot, but wear some eye protection
