New jeep owner, new jeep.
hello all, I just bought a 01' cherokee sport with 92000 miles, one owner; from a dealership. It's already been lifted and has had some work done on it. I know my industrial mechanics fairly well, but a jeep is a whole different animal.
When I test drove the jeep it seemed sound, just a minor leak coming out of the oil pan and a horrible weld job on a flowmaster exhaust system (lots of holes around the bead).. no odd clangs or bangs. However, after I made the purchase I took it on the interstate, here's the problem. The jeep is redlining at 3k RPMs in the last gear. Another thing is I'm afraid the drivetrain may have a misalignment or something going bad. When I sit at a light the whole vehicle bounces up and down a little, is this common? When I see this in a gear drive at work I shut down the whole line. When I'm coasting downhills I can hear a spooling noise coming out of the rearend, rear differential? And finally, when I'm accelerating up a hill the jeep will jerk a little, feels like something may be slipping, transfer case? As you can tell I am not an automotive mechanic, any wisdom in this would be very much appreciated, I'm a spaz and I hate to feel like i bought a lemon.
