neutral safety switch

The neutral safety position switch, or something like that, is shot on my trans. The check engine light came on an I ran it through Modis, did a couple tests an it came up as that being the problem. I removed the switch but broke the stud part of the switch removing it, i called everywhere an the best price whole sale is 280$, i don't have that laying around so i took it apart cleaned it out an put it back on, the stud is cracked but i still tried putting it on, hopefully that'll hold for a little. What I'm wondering is if anyone knows a place i could get one for cheaper then that in case this peace does go ? ( I already called around to junk yards ) thanks

It allows you to start the engine only in nuetral or park, and it also activates your back up lights when in reverse.

I say you go to a junk yard and pull one and just to be safe open it up and re grease everything. make sure the springs aren't stuck,
I used this link to help me out

NSS - override?

Newbie on this forum - and found this NSS thread.

...please redirect and/or advise if I need to repost (not intending to 'hijack' this thread)

I have a question with re: to the possibility to override the NSS (start in any position)

I am converting one of my Jeeps to a rock-crawler and was wondering if the NSS could be grounded or an override so I can start in any gear.

Thanks,
.cj
