Need New Shocks: OME vs Bilstein vs Rubicon Express vs...

I'm in the market for some new shocks. I've got the RE3.5 kit on the XJ that settled out at 4" even. I was tight for cash when I did the lift so I went for some $32 Skyjacker shocks that are supposedly for the XJ. I think Skyjacker messed up cause they seem like they are valved for a Ford F350.

So...I am in the market for some new non-adjustable shocks. I want the best on-road ride available. Quality and offroad performance is also a huge plus.

After searching and searching, it looks like OME, Bilstein and RE Monotubes are some of the best shocks going. Anyone have first hand experience with more than one of these shocks? Any one of these would be a gigantic upgrade from my existing Skycrappers, I'm just looking for some first hand advice on which is the best one.

I'm looking for some good advice from someone that has actually run one or more of these shocks. Thanks in advance.

Well, haven't run any of em, but you're on the right track. I think Bilsteins and OME are the best FWIW

From all the reading I've done on this forum and others it seams that the Bilsteins are more heavy duty than the OME but ride a little stiffer. Some people have claimed that the OME's are too soft and give a great ride but tend to give up some on-road handling.

Any truth to this? Of course, most of the stuff I've read is people complaining....not the other way around. I'd like to hear some comments from people who have had both.

With sway bars attached the shocks shouldn't affect the handling very much, mainly the ride. I hear OME are the best you can get, but Bilstein is a great brand too, so..

Okay, so Bilsteins or OME. Anyone know a website to get the best deal?
