Need a good tutorial for mounting driving lights.

I want to mount some Hella 500's on the front bumper of my 97 XJ. I was wondering if there is a good write-up (preferably with pictures) somewhere. I think that I can handle the wiring, but I am a little concerned about the actual mounting. Does the bumper actually need to come off to get them secured? If so, how does it come off? Thanks.

I left mine on when I installed my lights... It's sorta tough to wiggle your hands up in there to tighten down the bolts... but it is not too bad

i mounted mine without taking the bumper off....it was a bit hard to get up into the "open inside" space to tighten the nuts but all i did was reach up through the bottom.... taking the bumper off is a snap...you will need a t-45( i think, i can't remember the size) torx bit to take it off the 4 torx bolts.... thats it...although i have my end caps alread off so maybe you will need to take them off too...

There are tons of threads on this if you just use the search. Even with pictures.

hmm... I mounted mine with the bumper off, the bumper only has 4 bolts and the hose for the vacuum canister.
I had to make custom brackets out of 1/8" sheet of steel because the lights were too thick and wouldn't bolt onto my stock bumper.

Taking the bumper off is easy, and makes mounting lights easy. I can't for the life of me figure out why so many guys work so hard to figure out a way to mount lights WITHOUT taking the bumper off, when it is about a 5 minute job, if that!

Just take it off.

Where are the screws located to remove it and do the end caps have to come off first? How do they come off?
