Need Front Bumper Plans For Metal Shop Project At School

I am almost finishe with the welding that neede to be done on my D44. So now I think I want to build a bumper up front. I really like the winch compatible stinger bumper from Iron Scorpion.

So, what I want is something like that. But my metal shop teacher says he doesn't want vehicles around the shop, and since I only have it 1 period a day, it's gonna be a PITA to pull the bumper off and measure and size up and all that crap. I know I will probably have to do this at the end to get the mounting brackets perfect, but I'd rather not take my bumper on and off every single day.

I'm looking with someone for plans or atleast some dimensions for a front bumper similar to this that can help me out. I have to present a quick set of project plans to the teacher as well with 3 critical views.

So, anybody have a few helpful dimensions? Or partial plans? Hell, full plans?

BTW: Figured I'd use some bumper mounts from JCR offroadso I don't have to make my own.

Any objections?

Thanks

-Sean

Nice plan. I just did the same exact thing in metal shop. And yes 1 period a day would take FOREVER. It took me around two months of study hall time, lunch time, off block time, and after school. Although 1.5 weeks was spent gathering stuff for the grill guard and stuff. It consumed me.... im so glad its done! But I would definately reccomend the Iron Scorpion... There is very little welding to do when it is actually on the vehicle. You could tack that part up in an hour easily. My only advise is to let it cool off. Some of my steel got a little warped Designing your own will be a lot harder and depending on your plasma skills prolly won't look as good. I will post pics shortly.

Here are some pics. I think it turned out really well for my first ever welding project. Im not super thrilled with the color but when it starts coming off Im gonna go with POR-15. Anyways this is what it looks like and I would definately recomend it as a project.

you can order them seperately... Im not sure why he doesn't have anything in ebay though??? I talked to his wife when I picked up the kit locally and she said he was working on a rear bumper which is exciting. It is his side business so he is prolly just busy for a while.

Ahh! You can buy from his website now. http://www.ironscorpion.com/zen/index.php He prolly won't sell through ebay any more.

email him or call him you kinda have to special order the hoop. i told him i wanted a big stinger and the one he sent me was a little different than the pic, it was a little bigger and more pointy. i am sure he can bend you any kinda hoop you want. i forget how much extra mine was but i know it was cheaper than any of the other DIY hoops you can buy.

o and you have to order the long mounts. or you can do what i did and add frame stiffeners over the part that the bumper attaches to. check my thread in a week when photobuckets stupid bandwith resets itself i have lots of pics
