My new project
2 Attachment(s)
well, I will be picking this up sat morning. I think a good deal for $500. I am going to swap the suspension/tires onto my 96. (yeah someone told me to do it from this site) It has a block in the rear right now on the Dana44. I am going to go to my extended shackle and lose the block should stay the same lift height. If not what can I do to bring the rear up to the front if it needs it? I am also going with the sye/hnt and front driveshaft.

Not sure, but...
That is a pretty sweet deal, you could sell or use the tranny, motor, t-case out of that for spare cash or just spares. I am thinking of getting a XJ in better condition to swap all my nice parts onto, since corrosion is eating mine. Good luck with your project. I have heard that you do not want to large of a shckle in the rear...wears out the leafs springs from axle wrap I believe. I would maybe just look for a new set of rear springs?

You should take the Dana 44 as well, there nice.

I would say if it runs ok, turn it into a trail only rig. keep the 96 as a DD and beat the living wee out of that one. Do cheap mods and make it capable, yet cost effective.

EDIT: and by the way, since the bumper caps are already off, do TBM!!!

The transmission crossmember is not quite right (hanging down), don't know exactly what though, I was told that the sub-frame was ripped out? It runs, the transfer case is funky, doesn't always engage. so do I stick with the blocks. I have rusty's extended shackles right now on my 96 what are my options for the rear leaf pack. I was told it is a 6" lift unknown brand. the leafs are not stock xj's and they do have the block which is either a 1.5 or 2" not for sure.

stock measurments are 17.5" upfront and 17" in the rear. Measure from the center of the hub to the bottom of the fender flair and subtract these numbers from the ones you got and whalla! the amount of lift in inches. I would make a home brew leaf pack from an S-10. You can get 6" of lift by mixing and matching the right leafs. I would deffinately ditch the block and probly even the shackle and just go this route.

The time now is 09:37 AM.
