My Jeep Hates Me

Hey guys, some terrible stuff has happened over the last few weeks. While I was enjoying my spring break, some jack*ss decided to drive in the wrong lane and hit me head on. Long story short, air-bag deployed and insurance totaled it . I bought it back from the insurance and my girlfriends dad (he owns a body shop) hooked me up and fixed it for dirt cheap. But just recently my horn and automatic door locks have stopped working. I have checked all the fuses and none are blown. Im alright with electrical work, but I cant seem to find the problem and I don't want to start tearing my dash apart looking for broke switches if I don't know what I'm looking for. Please help.

Have you checked the relays under the hood?

Could be any number of things. Probably problems in the wiring harness. Good luck tracking it down.

well I took a look and there is power coming from the horn on the steering wheel, but no power to the actual horns. The fuses are fine and Im starting to think that maybe the wires are touching something causing a short, possibly the wires to my door locks which would explain why they are not working. Im not to exited to start tearing through my wire harness looking for wires touching. Im thinking about just jerry rigging it all and just having my horns on a separate circuit and another switch on the dash so I can pass inspection.

As previously mentioned....you Should check the relays. I'm guessing the power from the horn button in the steering wheel goes to the relay and it in turn sends power to the actual horn. Would be an inexpensive fix and alot better than 'jury rigging'.
