My fun begins tomorrow

After a week of locating & buying things I'll need (+ weeks of searching this and other xj forums), I'll get started putting my 3" lift in tomorrow . I've only had my xj since just before Christmas & already gotten bit by the bug. I bought a set of used 31" GY MTRs w/ black rockcrawlers & a Black Diamond lift w/ adjustable track bar & bumpstops all around. This should prove to be a ALOT of fun!!!

I'll be looking into swaybar discos & extended brake lines soon

Sounds like your gonna have some fun, but dont worry.. youll get frustrated too..

Ive got "inchetitis" setting in, I swore I wouldnt let it happen, but I want to throw a set of ZJ coils on my front end for an extra inch or so.. to bring the nose up a little past level.

What brand did you end up going with? AAL,block, shakle or full leaf pack?

I went with the AAL... Wish I would have had the $$$ for the spring pack. By the time it sags I'll have the means to replace them with full packs.

Hope you have been spraying everything down with PB Blaster. It makes life much easier. Good luck to you.

Mid 90s Dodge Dakota leafs are supposed to give you about 3" of lift. V8 Grand coils should give about 1" and some 1.5" spacers, and you have a serious junk yard lift. YJ (or TJ) brakelines are a little longer (~2") than the XJs. I think the Rocklizard BB talks about them. Tons of fender trimming info available, all of it combined and you're on 31s.

Take pics of the process for us...

I think I've actually lost count on how many bottles of pb blaster I've used in the last week . I was shocked that none of the bolts looks to be in bad shape (no rust & threads look good). Still, I've been sprayin like mad. I'll be huffin every one of them off. I sold my air tools & compressor about 5 months ago . I'll try to get some pics along the way. I might have some help from a friend, but something tells me I'll be doing most of it myself.
I trimmed my front fenders & front flares today, I'm sure I'll be trimming more later!

I think the YJ brake lines are from a '95 non-abs. Someone confirm that for me.

I got it done! Took just about 5 hours from start to finish. I had to stop twice, Once to eat, Once to get a bolt that I broke. I took her out for a drive today, I have very slight vibes @ 70mph... This could be also because of an alignment. I'll have that done this week sometime. I took adavantage of finishing earlier than expected and trimmed my front flares, fenders & bumper... Here are some pics..
