Considering the 8.8 is narrower than the stock XJ axles I'll need spacers anyways, might as well make them adapters while I'm at it. Also, it already has disc brakes on it. I am planning on doing the "super 8.8" later on, but since Ford used this same axle under F-150's and Mustangs I'm not too worried about it breaking on me anytime soon.

Decided to work on the front axle some more. First I cleaned out the garage a bit more and got my parts layed out.

Old ring gear off.

Carrier completely apart and bearings removed.

Oops, looks like the pinion fell out of the axle.

I think something goes here.

Thats about all the progress I was able to make today. Partly because I'm lazy and partly because my kid is an attention hog. I keep telling him he better start carrying his own weight around the house and quit being a mooch but he just giggles and smiles at me. Sheesh, kids these days. Going to go look at some houses in Firestone and Frederick tonight so probably won't get much more done until tomorrow.

Well got a lot done so far this weekend.

Removed the D30

Took off a bunch of other ****e

Installed a bored out throttlebody

Replaced the waterpump, thermostat, rear main seal, oilpan gasket and fuelpump

Installed a Detroit Tru-trac w/ 4.56's into my D44, and welded the truss on

Installed the TNT Bellypan and arms

Made me a new exhaust

I also installed my RE HD Tracbar mount w/brace and Rusty's Steering gearbox brace. Tomorrow I'm going to work on removing the stock LCA mounts and installing the D44.

Well I got a little more done today.

Picked up a well used 35" tire to use as a spare. Also got me a new set of taillights for it.

Got the LCA mounts cut off pretty well and the arms installed, also got the D44 attached to them and up on jack stands. I need to put the shafts in it and install the new hubs and spindles. I also need to install my CRANE Diff cover and put fluid in it.

I got the radiator put back in and the header panel. Got the 2 out of 3 peices of my "new" black grill setup installed. (cough, cough, Troy )

I also installed the passenger side TJ mirror, you can see it perfectly through the windshield.
