Muffler Repair

So after a day on the trail, I managed to break the exhaust pipe off the muffler. It's not hanging off or anything, but the pipe has become disconnected right at where it slips into the muffler, so now it just sort of scrapes and rattles while I drive.

I tried using some JB putty stuff, but that broke off and smells like burnt peanuts. What's the easiest way to fix it? Just buy a whole new muffler and pipe and weld it on?
