Mirror Help

I woke up today to find a tree on top of the front of my XJ. I was wondering since the tree also took out my driver's side mirror if I can get 97+ mirrors and get them to work on my 90 XJ. If any of you have done this or if there is a write up on it I would really appreciate it.

Does it just plug in or do I have to splice some wires?

If they are power mirrors, I believe there's some minor splicing. Otherwise, the newer mirrors are nearly bolt-in replacements. I believe you might have some minor interference with a little trim that should be removed - there are a few writeups floating around. I'll see if I can find my favorite again

Check out http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoMirrors.htm - the main part of his writeup involves just changing out the mirror, but does show a few shots of the 97+ mirrors on another Jeep.

I read the article and it bolts right on but doesn't say anything about wiring it when you already have power mirrors. I would like some sort of diagram if anyone has one.

Ack. Looking at it again, you're right. Sorry about that, I just glanced over it and thought that's the one I referenced a few years back. Not sure where I saw the wiring bit now...

Mine is power and not heated and if I order the 97+ that are power and not heated, will I have the same amount of wires? If so, should I be able to play with the wires until the correct motion on the switch is matched with the correct motion on the mirror?
