Honestly just wondering, RickyN29--why so much lift just for 31s? It looks good, but you have a '90, so you have bigger wheelwells than later years anyway. Unless you're going with much bigger tires in the future? I'm not trying to start anything; I'm just from the Midwest where we don't have too many rock gardens, and where the only thing that really helps off road is tire size (and torque, and engine displacement, and . . .).

If you get a chance, could you measure yours per this info:
http://www.mike-g.net/jeep/yinyang/tech/rideheight/

Let me know what your measurements are.

Thanks!

Yeah definitely. The 31's were for my 3" lift. I went higher, and have been waiting for these darn tires to wear out, but 45,000 miles later, they still have 40% tread! Probably in a couple months, I will be going with 33's or 35's.

Your Jeep looks very close to mine height wise and I'm at 5.5" as well with 31's.

Your not measuring wrong... It's the tires. Most people have at least 33's and some 35's on that much lift and thats probably why their Jeep looks alot bigger even with the same amount of lift. I get a weird complex when I look at a XJ with less lift but larger tires, and it looks way bigger than mine . I think 31 or 32's fit better and no trimming but just don't do the lift any justice.

Awesome Jeep and sweat pics by the way!
Well, it isn't a 5.5 HD, but that was the short answer. It was the Rusty's 3.5 Heavy Duty (higher spring rates, for more load capacity) plus spacers/shackle/ and an extra lift leaf.

Got a pic of yours? I'd like to see it.

Yeah, bigger tires will help I suppose. I figure with 33's, I can retain the stock flares, just minor trimming inside. Proper bumpstomps and I should be fine.

I do like how the 31's stuff perfectly though!

Thanks for the compliment on the pics. The first one was shot on my old B&W 35mm SLR. The second was my Canon EOS 350d. Everyone asks how I photoshopped it..... I didn't.

Thats what i was thinking, trimmed fenders and removing that front valence under the bumper would make it look bigger IMO. Here's mine with with 3" and 31's. this was before i trimmed the rear, but the front is trimmed.

Keep in mind the lift is figured up from the new stock ride height. Your springs may have sagged buy 1-2" then rusty's lifts seem to run 1' over so any settling will give advertised lift. Btw looks good.

It does... I did my front valence and was running front flareless for a day or two (really bad scratch on driver side fender flare) and it looked pretty sweet, just non-matching. Left the valence off and I wish I had a pic loaded since I've done it, but if you took the valence off and went w/ a larger tire, not only would it look taller but I think it would actually be taller (taller diameter tire....). Otherwise I think that's a great example of a (almost) completely stock bodied xj lifted.
