Manual Windows to Electric Windows
My windows on my 1989 Cherokee are not the best. If you roll them down too far, they won't roll back up without having to pull them up part of the way, and if you go all the way down, it's very hard to get them back up.
I want to fix this, and my thoughts are this: How hard is it to fix, and what am I looking to fix? It feels like a gear is not catching or something, and the second part of this question is, if I am going through all the trouble to take off the inner door covre, how hard would it be to replace the current set up with a power setup from a junkyard? Power windows and locks would be nice. One thing to consider is, I have to paint this Cherokee, so replacing the doors, if that is an option wouldn't be so bad. So, which or these is the better way to go? 1. Fix the current windows with new parts and keep the windows and locks manual? 2. Keep the current doors, and replace the current set up with electric windows and locks? 3. Replace the doors with doors from a Cherokee that already has electric windows and locks? Thanks for any suggestions, or comments! Jamie

I had the same problem with my driver side window, it would only go half way down. So i bought an electric window regulator from ebay. The swap was pretty easy, just remove the door panel and a few bolts, and then i just used a momentary switch from radioshack to open and close the window.
