Made a rear bumper and tire carrier.

I started on the laptop with an elaborate tube bumper. I built it on the truck. I mocked and tacked it all up. After I was done I thought it was too much, hung too low and I just didn't like it. It took all day to make. I took the saw to it. My wife thought I was crazy.

This is what I came up with, with the parts left over. Simple and light. Sorry for the blurry pics. The waterfall camera is ready for the trash. Its all 1.75x.120 HREW. The D ring plates and mount plates are 3/8.

Looky. I got a tire to hang on it. I had to use an engine hoist to lift the wheel into place so I could measure and tack the first tube. What a pain in the ***.

I think its done except for some finish work. I was going to do some sheet metal and some dimple dies but I think I like it simple.

Hmm I don't have the bolt in it. I welded a nut on the backside of the stop and made a T bolt.

Nice. I wouldve made those D-ring tabs thicker than 3/8"s but its aight I reckon.

I used 3/4" on mine and no problems and it makes the D-ring sit flat.
Pics of the mounting plz...

As for material cost.....hmm...maybe $120 or so?

I didn't have 3/4 sitting around. Plus its over kill. If it tears through the 3/8, it would have already torn the unibody out of the truck.

Looks great! You could market it and make some money.
All the ones on the market now are way to high in price to make it worth the effort. You could price it down some..

Peace
