Loud Pop/Clunk from rear end!
I was a bit bored today so I went down the road for a little off roading action around the farms and lakes. I put my 89 XJ (Selec Trac) into 4 Part Time and went "exploring" around the lakes a little bit, but when turning around I heard a loud POP in the rear. I figure it was just because I was turning too tight and my axle jumped or my t-case bound up.
This only happened twice as far as I can remember, was it just my driveline binding up? I'm a bit of a newbie, but it was all on loose sand/dirt so I didn't think it would be a problem. So anyway, after I got done (nervous that I might be shot at ) I put it into full time till I got to the end of the dirt road, and then back to 2wd when I got on the highway, took it to about 60 mph, and nothing seemed wrong. Am I worrying about nothing? I'm going to take it a bit easier next time, and I don't think I broke anything, but are the occasional clunks when in part time too much to worry about?

The front axle likes to bind up when you are in four wheel drive and make sharp turns. At least mine always has, and so has a few others I know of. That may have been it.
