Loud clunk when turn
When I turn my wheel to the left while moving or stopped there is a very loud clunk. Seem to be coming from somewhere above the front skid plate near the stabilizer. Could bad/old stabilizer bushing cause this? 89 MJ

Hi, I have the same4 problem. Mine has progressively gotten worse. Took it to the local shop and they said that the Steering Box has play in it and that is what is making the noise.
Hoepfully not the same as yours!

Have someone crank the steering back and forth while you are under there - put your hands on the tie rods, track bar, etc. and you will find the source of the noise by "feel". Just don't get your hand pinched in between anything.

I was under there last night with someone turning. Im pretty sure it is either the stabilizer bar or steering box. Going out to drop skid plate right now. |
