loud clunk from rear!

i was getting a very loud clunk when i gassed on it from a dead start. i found out my spring pack bolt snaped.i put a new bolt in ,now it seems the loud clunk sound is gone.

is this common for the spring pack bolt to break?

Clunk!

Hello,

Did you get this sound when you put the brakes on at a slow speed. The cherokee I am driving just began making that clunk sound, it feels like someone hit me from the rear end (lightly). Could that be the spring pack bolt, iwonder...

What year? Probably just have to lube up your TC output shaft.

You fellows are talking about the centering pin, correct? I wonder if re-used u-bolts are involved...
