Looking into buying a 94 Cherokee

I've had 3 Jeeps, a '79 CJ-7, a '81 CJ-5, and I currently have a '89 wrangler. I'm not new to the Jeep world, just new to Cherokees.

I'm looking at buying a friend's '94 Cherokee SPORT. I have a baby now, and need more room that the wrangler has. Are there any problem areas for that year that I should look for? Are the transfer cases and transmissions in those ok? How's the heater in them?

Also, are 31's about the biggest tire you can put on those stock w/ no lift and not rub?

I looked up alot on the FAQ, but could use some more help. Thanks all in advance!
