long time no jeep
Well after combing all the j/y's and u pull its i have determined that finding a t/c for my 95 xj is nearly impossible. I really miss the jeep. My tag is gone and from the research i have done it seems to be a 231. Is there anything i should or need to know about possible matches, dif years, models...etc..?What about splines?
How about any tips for removal. I'm gonna take a stab at it i just dont wanna pull it before i have a replacement for it so it doesnt sit in the yard since i am without garage. Thanx. Beav ![]()

Look at your 4wd selector, if it has full time 4wd then it is a 242 if it doesnt then it is a 231. Im 90% sure any 231 from any jeep (tj, yj, zj, wj, ect) will fit. But you might want to wait from someone to confirm that.

i've been told to watch for shaft length and other various issues such as # of splines. I'm on a budget and gotta be as close to 100% as possible for a drop in.

Any NP231 out of an XJ 1991 or later will be a "bolt in". Just stay away from the pre 1991 ones as the spline count is different.

seems i remember some where that they changed from 21 to 23 splines in around 93/94. what would you need to get rid of one? $$?
