location of low-pressure port

can someone tell me ( or better yet show me) where the low-pressure a/c port is located on a 1999 jeep cherokee?

Follow the fat line off the back of the compressor until you reach a port and that'll be your low pressure port most of the times it'll have a blue cap on it and the high side will have a red cap on it. No worries if you try the wrong one, the low pressure port has a different fitting on it than the high pressure port so all the self recharge kits only fit the low side.

The ports on an R134a system are designed so that only the correct fitting will connect to each one (they are different sizes). Thus, you can ONLY connect a fill fitting to the low side.

BE CAREFUL when adding more refrigerant. Unless you are experienced working on AC systems, it's possible to OVERFILL the system and DAMAGE the compressor. (Just a friendly warning---every year, some guy on one of the Jeep forums manages to do this because he/she doesn't understand the intricacies of the AC system. Don't become one of those guys.)
