Load Capacities for OME Medium and HD Leafs
I can't find an answer to this question after searching for a while now.
What are the load capacities for OME's medium and hd leaf springs. I know that you get more lift out of the hd's and that they'll ride stiffer, but my question is how much weight would I need to be putting on the back of my jeep to justify the hd's? I like the idea of the softer ride with the medium duty and the more modest lift, but if I hook up a trailer or load up some mulch or something will I get severe saggage with the medium duty? Is their load capacity greater than stock capacity? I've also checked out OME's website and it appears their info section is under construction. Can anyone here help?

I don't know what the duty in lbs is for the medium duty springs, but I'm sure they will carry more load than standard. Also the bottom leaf only comes into play when they have deflected some and limits saggage to an extent.
I had 4 - 5 barrow loads of soil in the back a couple of weeks ago. The back was lower than the front but not dramatically so and the ride was still good. Steve. |

MAX Tongue weight for all XJ TowHitch's is 500lbs. So unless you plan on putting 10 bags of concrete in the back while towing the MED. duty should be fine. AND as long as you don't do it everyday all day. If that's the case....get a truck.

from what I have read, the OME HD coils actually ride softer than the OME med duty and have a lower spring weight...the extra capacity comes from an overload leaf.

http://www.arbusa.com/uploads/PDF/accessorizeYourRig/jeepCherokeeXJ.pdf I am a little confused when folks use terms like "medium" and "HD" when there is no corresponding spring in the catalog. |
