lift stuff and noob stuff
Firstly the Lift question. For my birthday I've asked for a lift (good present eh?
) I'm currently running 30's and I only want a 3 or 3.5" lift. I dont want it to be "that" high, for alot of reasons, plus the fiancee isnt all that tall dont wanna have to get her a steppin stool lol, and really because its just want i want. Though my step dad is saying to just get the 4" because you might as well go for the added height. But I'm worried about that cause i've heard alot of things you might have to start adjusting/changing when you start getting that high. So I guess my question is which is better in your opinion? just go ahead and go higher or stick with the "economical" 3-3.5" lift. And now the secondly the noob section of the post. I have to admit I'm still REALLY new at this whole jeep thing. And some of the terms I cant find a meaning for by searching. like SYE and RE and BB. Could someone just fill me in on the common abbriviations used?

sounds like you know what you want, so get what you want! as for the noob questions.... i got it covered. sye = slip yoke eliminator. re = www.rubiconexpress.com . bb = budget boost. i found this link on here http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/cherokee-stock-specs-26256/ which has lots of good info plus those terms that sometimes dont make any sense at first. good luck with the lift rick

I really like my RE 3.5" kit..it had everythingi needed, and rides great on road and perfoms great off-road. It isnt too big, but allows me to run 31's and flex it out without rubbing the fenderwells. And wil some minor trimming i can still go to 32" tires. My fiane isnt the tallest person either and she doesnt have too many problems getting in or out. If you go with a 3" or 3.5" kit you will not be disappointed and can always add 1.5" spacers and shackles to make it bigger (4.5 or 5") . the only thing i suggest you address is the rear brake line...buy a 93 YJ rear line, and it will give you the extra lenght you need..and cheaply. Also you will want to address the front tracbar as it the factory tracbar will shift to the side a bit and eventually wear and cause wandering. The tracbar is a good investment and relatively cheap, and easy to replace.

Every jeep reacts differently to lift..some get vibes, some "wander" on road..and some just plain break stuff....You wont be able to tell if you need a t-case drop or shims until you get the lift installed and take a spin in it...if you get vibes from underneath/rear end...you may have to look at shims, or a t-case drop..or might just need a couple new u-joints. If it comes from the front, get it aligned and look at addressing the tracbar or front wheel u-joints...and make sure you re-check everything after 100 miles of installation...!!
Good luck !
