Leaf Springs v.s. Coil Springs
Just for my information, what is the advantages of having leaf springs versus coil springs. I'm guessing one of the big cons of leaf springs would be the stiff bumpy ride. Which would make for a better setup in the off-road community?

Depends on what you are wheeling. Mud and leaf spring go pretty well together. Rock krawling and coils go well.
It all boils down to the design of the lift to get the max effecientcy out of the coils or leafs. Hands down the best set up in the offroad community are niether. Coil overs are a much better solution to the suspension equation. I like the XJ coils front and leaf rear for the simple matter of stability. Get some flexy enough leaf springs and you should have no issues making the suspension travel as you desire.

Leaf springs have the benifits of striegth and symplicity, there really easy to fix on the trail. a little wire and tape and you limp out of a leaf. Coils have very litter stability in holding the axle in place, is you losse a control arm than you axle is catiwampus.
Cons. are defanly the stiff ride. Very little flex when comapred to coils. For the off road ability, it depends on what you are doing. For mud bogging and flatter terrain leafs are great. for rock crawling where massive flex is needed than coils are unbeatable.
