So I lost my keys :brickwall and now i need to get a new remote for the keyless entry. I tried going to the stealership and they wanted around $50 for the remote and $30 to program it... Does anyone know of where to get a new remote and then how to program it? I was thinking Ebay but some say you can program it yourself and some say that you need another working remote. Others say you need a dealer to program it. Any suggestions would help. Thanks!
Get your remotes on eBay or from the junkyard. On the 1997-2001 Cherokees the only way to program a remote is at the dealership or a service shop with the proper engine computer scantool. If you are having some other service work done at the dealership some of them will program remotes at a reduced cost.
Go to another dealer that won't rip you off! I don't know if there's a difference in programming between your 2000 and my 1998, but my remotes were $30 each including programming (took <5 minutes).
