Just ordered my RE 3.5" lift...now for vibes?!?

Yo - just ordered a RE 3.5" kit for my 2001 XJ..super pumped - gonna do the install next week. Anyway, I've been doin a lot of reading about getting vibes and I want to fix it (if its there) soon after the install...if I get an SYE, do I need to get a new driveshaft or will the SYE take care of the problem with my lift???

You need a new driveshaft. The idea of the stock slip yoke is the driveshaft can slide along it to become longer and shorter as the axle moves up and down. It's all trigonometry. However, if the angle becomes to great and the driveshaft must become longer, it starts to vibrate. The SYE eliminates that slip yoke, but if you just bolted a driveshaft to it, it then loses it's capability of changing length. You must then get a two-piece driveshaft that can slide along itself so it can extend and contract. I'm sure someone could provide a better explanation, but that's the gist of it.

dude, just WAIT until after you get your lift on. you might not get vibes. every jeep is different. i dont see why people go and buy a sye with a 3" lift that hasnt even been installed yet. just wait till after you put in the lift. youll probably wanna go with a t-case lowering kit. lots of companies make them

Exactly. I got a Skyjacker 3" in mine (I know, it's not 3.5", and yes, it's not RE, but it's still noticably different than stock...), and have yet to feel any shudders associated with DW. If I did, the first thing I would go for is a t-case drop, THEN shims, and then finally a SYE.
