Is this just a NSS issue?

My jeep has been acting up lately. Long starts, cranks longer than it usually does to get the jeep to start. No reverse lights (first sign of a faulty NSS).

Now the weird part is, it wont shift out of first gear. I will be going 25mph down the road at 5,000 RPM's. If i quickly jump on the gas I can get it to shift into second, but it wont do it by itself. Secondly, if i am going 30 mph and i get back on the accelerator it feels as if the jeep is in neutral like there is no power going to the wheels whatsoever.

Are all of these issues stemming from a dirty NSS? I am getting ready to go clean out the NSS here in a few minutes, but i just wanted to be sure that I am not heading in the wrong direction with this.

(the check engine light is on, but I'm not going to drive up to the auto parts store doing 25mph at 5,000 RPM's anymore, its really really really loud)

Ussualy a NSS will not make it slow to start, from what I have seen. When I had a bad NSS and had to clean it out it would not start in gear and i would have to go though gears a few times before stating but when it did it started up as it normaly does. Check the battery?

i just changed the TPS not too long ago, I've replaced it twice, this doesnt feel like the same type of issue though.

I guess I'll go up to auto zone and get them to pull the code, if it is the TPS again I have the one with the lifetime warranty

AutoTardZone. I suspect your TPS is failed. The TPS and CPS are the two 4.0L parts that I ONLY get from Chrysler/Jeep. Too many people have had problems with low cost parts not being able to do the job or last very long.

same thing happened to me a while ago, check engine light was on , i replaced the o2 sensor located before the cat. converter and that took care of the problem, good luck.
