Just broke something..

Ok, so I was pretty curious as to how my valves looked, and to see if there was any sludge build up. Here are the results..

Now here's where I broke something on top of the valve cover, it was a PITA to get off so it snapped off. I'm not exactly sure what it is, if someone could tell me what it is that'd be cool. Anyway the Jeep runs fine, and the valves are pretty friggin clean.

That's the crank case ventilation (CCV) fitting. OEM P/N 53030495.

Dealer has them.

Alright sweet, the part is only $3 at Rockauto. But I'm kind of curious what purpose does this part serve? The Jeep runs fine, it just sucks air out the hose now.

It just recirculates the crankcase air through the engine to be burnt and send out the exhaust

let me know how you removed it and if you have to remove the valve cover to do so I tried to pry mine out and it doesn't seem to want to come out

I had to distroy mine getting it out because the grommet was so old and hard. You should get a new grommet while you're t it.
