Have done a little searching around and have checked out a ton of pics! Just would like to get your suggestions and thoughts (if any) on any of the items below. Current '90 Cherokee (4.0 I6) has 180,000 miles and still running strong.

What I plan on:
-4-6" Lift
-33-35" Tires
-Black Cheapo Wheels
-Roof Rack for 5th Wheel/Tire

Any ideas...thinking about looking for some used parts as this is going to be a low budget project as I don't plan on using the jeep for anything other than the off road...so its going to get beat on and just enjoyed during the weekends.

Any help, ideas, suggestions are appreciated! Thanks guys.

that sounds like a fine plan, im (along with a bunch of guys here) a big fan of the "low COG, big tires" thing, so shoot for that

id say a safe bet would be either a 4.5" lift with 33's or a 6" lift and 35's if you dont wanna trim too much

the black rockcrawler wheels are always a safe bet, and at around $40 a piece, you can't go wrong

id say definitely piece your lift together with used parts from reputable companies, thats pretty much what i have done and its worked out great so far

Thanks man. Appreciate the response. I got my buddy doublins (on here...has a newer wrangler lifted with 35s...have helped him with virtually everything he has done on his wrangler) helpin me out with the project. I have had tons of jeeps and now finally have a beater one and the money to make it a fun off road vehicle. Certainly not taking my new baby GC off road...yet. HA.

Looking to keep this project under $5k so I will definately keep all of you updated with plenty of pics.

So, after some discussion/guidance with my buddy doublins...here is the path we're most likely going to take on this spring project. Also, my parents just bought a new house with a 3 car garage and it is two stories high...SWEET!...already grabbed one of the spots...

Here's what we're thinking:

1) RE 5.5" lift ( http://northridge4x4.com/proddetail.php?prod=RE6200 )
2) AR-767 rims or some Cragar Soft 8s in 15x8, 4" backspacing
3) Kuhmo 35x12.5x15 Venture MTs
4) Advanced Adapters Slip Yoke Eliminator
5) Tom Woods CV driveshaft
6) Used Ford 8.8" Axle with stock Trak-lok & 4.10:1 gears. Have XJ mounting brackets welded on.
7) Regear the front to 4.11:1 gears
8) Remove fenders
9) Gut the inside
