Daily driver won't start. Help please.

I went to start my jeep at about 4est today and it didn't start. The key had no resistance like it normally does right before it turns over. If you know what I mean. Like it'll go then get hard' then you push further to start it. Well my jeep doesnt do that. It goes right thru where that should be. It started just fine at about 1 when I got out of school. It's currently sitting in my garage. Had to push it in. Any suggestions/troubleshoots are welcome. I'm 16 and it's my daily driver. It is a 96 Cherokee country 4.0 high output.

Thanks in advance for any help guys.

The ignition tumbler assembly is likely shot.

How hard/expensive is it to repair?

It's pretty straight forward - but you should have a repair manual on hand. Read through the procedure first before you start taking things apart. If your mechanically inclined then you should have no problem. I can't remember how much the ignition switch cost but that just means that it couldn't have cost to much.
