JEEP WEEK----building the "neXtJ" Stage I

All good things must come to an end.........so after 12 years and 186,000 miles pounding the Colorado Rockies it's time to retire my 2nd XJ....and build a 3rd of course

She was a great Jeep.

I have decided to do my swap this week. Which I have named "JEEP WEEK", much like The Discovery Channels Shark Week. Every night after work I will close myself into my garage, lock the door, and turn the cell phone off.

STAGE I will be all my bumpers, rocker knockers, and suspension swapped to my 2000 XJ from the 1992 XJ.

STAGE II will be the SYE, and driveshafts, extended brake lines, and cutting fenders and RE-USING the stock flares, installing SOLAR floods on the rack for camping/cooking in the dark.

STAGE III will be swapping my built axles, installing ECTED locker wiring using stock switches and panels in the dash.

I began Stage I saturday. I'll try not to bore you with lengthy verbage and 300 pictures of the same thing.

Cut, heat, beat repeat......

The front suspension finished.

Oh yeah....and what Jeep Week would be complete without a sponsor......fresh in the KEG

Well....I figured I couldn't get much for it after I pull all my parts off so I had hoped on parting it out for maybe $800-$1000.........but I ended up finding a guy willing to go get junk yard axles and give me $2200 for the whole thing....as long as I left the Y-Link on. So now I have to purchase a new Y-Link.

SOLD!!

Mid Week on Jeep Week.

Sliders. The lower pinch seam has changed a bit from the pre 97+ XJ's. It took a couple of new bolt holes to get them to line up but they fit. I was originally going to block them out about an inch so I could use them for a step. They fit super snug to the older XJ....these seem to stick out about 3/4" more...so that was a bout perfect for me.

Re-bent the original brake line and refastened it about 4" lower, cheap, easy, and free mod until I get my Y-link swapped over an need extended lines.

Front Winch bumper actually fit the newer XJ better then the older ones. No fender trimming under the marker light, and all mounts were identical. The WARN sits a bit further away from the grill too (maybe 3/4") so it will be easier to get the cover on and off. The pre 97 put the winch literally right against the grill.

.......and the soon to be April employee of the month.........

Tonight-Friday will be Rear springs, and Custom C-Rok bumper.

Interesting employee of the month...

I'd love to see pics of the bumper. I'm looking for a winch bumper so I'm looking at them all...

I'm about 110% sure mine is a NAtes bumper...but I don't see it anymore on his site.....he must have chaged his design.

I'll get you pics next week so I can get the XJ out in better light. I did a bunch of research on bumpers.......gives me a headache just thnking about it.
