Fixing the slice will be easy, like said above. Or the popup vent is good too. Then finish the top in the same stuff they use on boats - gelcoat. Adds strength and makes it shiny, or, in Jeep terms, makes it easier to wash the mud off...

Those that have never used a Westfalla or anything similar, goto the link posted earlier and look at the Ecamper.

Theres two lips in back on the corners which ill have to tend to. The back of the truck is shaped a little different, but its no biggie. It also looks a lot worse in the photo compared to in person... but im thinking about trimming the back part down a little bit so it will draw in the sides... Most of my time has gone into trimming the roof so it fits perfect. Its been quite tedious.....

I'd take some soft, black rubber hose to run along the trimmed edges to make a nice, professional looking seam between the edge of the lid and the roof. A single cut along the length of the hose (in effect making it a "C"), put a liberal bead of black Silicone II along the inside, slip it over the trimmed edge and you're good to go. The more I see your project develop, the more I want to run to the junkyard and follow in your path. Keep the photos coming!

thats excellent idea!!! ive been racking my brain on where I could find a cheap rubber "seal" but everythings 50 or more. SO, with that in mind, im heading off to autozone to grab some heater hose to cut and some black silicone. I cant imagine heater hose to be that expensive. Thank you sir!

Also, I am going with the idea of a vent on top. But probably not a window. Reason being: Every time ive camped in my jeep before.. it would get very moist and foggy cause of all the breath in a small area. This way I can vent it all out like a camper would.

I appreciate all the ideas so far!!!

ok, just returned back.

Picked up some small heater hose 23' , black silicone adhesive, Black Satin Rustolium Paint (because thats what I painted my old vw top with and it worked perfectly), and a roller.

I feel like im working on something completely different than a vehicle. Im not use to picking up such odd items.

Im going out to see how much I can get done tonight... objectives:
- Take out those lovely little lights front and back and fill the holes
- Slit the heater hose and fit
- clean the roof again
- Paint the outside and inside trim
- Fit and glue the hose permenatly

(the list is kind of for my own reference just to see how much I can accomplish compared to how much I will accomplish)

Sadly, I forgot I had to cement some things before I continued with the project, so im letting them dry for tonight.

Cut and fitted the hose. VERY satisfied with the results

But tomorrow will be the big day...
Washing, painting, and fitting the roof to the jeep for one last look before I enter the point of no return; cutting the roof :X

You should leave the lights! I think they're cool.
