Every chain break I've seen the chain just fell to the ground. Video doesn't lie though so clearly I was wrong about not storing energy. Maybe the videos show more energy than I've put in a chain

those videos show the most obnoxious chain use i've seen. I think these videos are the extreme side to incorrect chain usage...expecially the bulldozer with tracks! But like someone mentioned.. youll also notice there was nothing laid across the lines to dampen the snap. We do this with chains, winch cables, and straps. But all in all, having a strap break is not only the safest..but probably the cheapest to replace as well!

what really scares me is the not necessarily the type of recovery 'line' being used...but the actual recovery point on the vehicles. I have seen a lot of projects with really skimpy recovery points....ughhh...now this scares me. I dont really feel like having a d-ring and weak slab of bumper flying at me at the tail end of a sling-shot.

But then again.. I would never help someone after inspecting such an unsafe mess. Takes two to tango I guess.

im thinking of putting a removable twin size matress frame in my XJ, with the rear drivers seat (bucket seat conversion) facing backwards. i really like your idea and honestly it is kind of what got me thinking of a cherokee crawler/camper.

vanagons had swivling front seats. It would be really neat to have the front seats rotate 180. In fact, instead of extending the rails.. if you could do that.. you would be capable of getting that needed 6 - 10. THeres a few vanagons left where I'm at... ill probably take a gander myself and pull some just to have. It would definitely be something I could put in the blazer as well.

Putting this thread to rest, or atleast on my end. Since the chevy is almost finished, and the jeep was beginning to show signs of wear and tear that I couldnt keep up with, I decided to sell the jeep-a-gon. Kind of knew this would happen when I had purchased the other truck last year... but its finally came to that point. Cant have two toys.. so now im looking for a 4 banger daily for my college commute.

If anyones interested in my s10 project heres the link '94 Half life blazer - S-10 Forum The projects been going strong now for a year or so.. and she's almost done.

As far as the new owners of the cherokee.. Dont really think they have any plans on building up the truck anymore.. but you never know. It would be nice to see what will 'come of the jeep. I will miss it greatly....

Love the Jeep-a-gon. Mines not really an offroader for a few reasons, but I have to boast my homey cherokee.

I think it is stock, seen one here in town years ago just like it. Well, might not be stock, but a conversion package. It was exactly like that.
