jeep cherokee chief sport axles?

I have been offered a 79 jeep cherokee sport for $100. Has D44 axles front and rear and is in fair shape. Main reason i am looking at it is for the axles. Anyone know much about these axles or how difficult it would be to swap in to a 99 XJ sport? Other possibility is to cut the cab off the back and make a truck out of it. Any thoughts or suggestions?

A 79 will have a passenger side drop on the front. I think the axles will be 65" wide and I also think the rear axle will have an offset pumpkin. So I don't think the axles will make good donors for an XJ swap.
