Interesting fix to tranny problem
My tranny would act like it wanted to up/down shift when I would get to a cruising speed. I checked the fluid, it was ok. I even posted a thread, thanks balloo! asking about the TPS. It turned out that another problem I was having caused my trans issue. My brake lights would stay on when I let off the pedal sometimes. I wanted the trans fixed first, so I took it in and the mech found that my brake light sensor was shorting out causing my trans to "think" that I was putting on the brakes! thus downshifting. When the sensors in the trans saw that I wasn't slowing down, it would shift back. I would have never thought that somethign like a brake light issue would affect the trans, but I'm no mechanic. I just thought it was interesting.....

That is in fact, freakishly strange. I guess it's a case of teh PCM being much smarter than it needs to be!
Glad you got it sorted out.
