Idle issue

Hi, going to be going to pick up my first XJ in a little while and have a quick question.

When I was test driving it I let it sit and idle while I looked over the body. During this time the idle started to slow way down and the engine acted like it would stall. But then the idle picked up again to the normal 750. On the road the Jeep drives great. Is the idle set to low or could it be a sensor?

I just dont want it to be in the fuel system

Edit: oh, 4.0 of course, thanks

anything? I know it could be a ton of things, but I am just looking for what to most common things may be with these engines.
