I want a nice rear end

thats it, ive been jeep deprived for weeks now, going on a month, and i need to tell you all this...I want my back end OFF. (Thanks heavymetal, its like you got me addicted to your rig)

MY IDEA:
The back window will be taken out on each side and entire hatch. I will cut almost above the rear bench seat straight across, leaving it like heavy metals only with a roof. Then i will put metal around the roof where it was cut and weld it...then connect the top bar to the tire well on the side on each side( making an upside down U pretty much, lastly, connect two other bars to the back section by the lights for more re-enforcement.
I would rather not triangulate though i probably should, (let me know if i NEED to or not, im not doing the rubicon but i am wheeling it.

I will have the floor herculined and would try to weld on frame stiffeners
I will also put a sort of botton on for this too but thats the least of my worries

Any input needed please, thanks.

EDIT: I will keep the same lift (or move it up 1 inch (4 inches all around) trim it, and put 33's under

Hmm... maybe you should just get some of those buttock implants. I have been thinking getting those myself.

You will need to make sure you don't mess with the integrity of the unibody construction. Too much cutting and that sort of thing seems like it would really mess things up.

Nice rear end, try this:
http://exercise.about.com/b/a/257177.htm

Personally, I'd love to back half mine, but not in a hurry to do so. If I ever saw a parts MJ or found one in a yard, I'd cut the rear section of cab off and start to formulate a plan to back half mine.

Haha SCORE.

anyway, i dont see anything wrong with that idea if i read it right, you wanna back-half it, but seal it up like that with metal? (if you get a post 97 hatch, you can cut the hatch up and weld that in place for a clean job)...or maybe you meant a small cage back there? either way i'd seal it for daily duty.

If done right, i see no reason why this would be a terrible idea, but on his point, if it was my DD i'd definitely do it right, meaning no big short cuts.

You can theoretically soft top it nicely, but thatll cost you for someone to make one correctly. My project is just getting a stretch over safari style top, but it surely isnt my DD.

You dont need to make some gaudy competition style cage for it, you can get away with subtle triangulation/gusseting. Im still in the process of drawing mine up.

www.xjdb.com there are some other examples over there that are more complete than mine at this time (especially sealed ones)...probably worth lookin at.

thats pretty much what i wanna do, but i probably wont have the skills or cash to do the MJ tailgate, so i will proabbaly mesh it until i get some skills...and i would rather not triangulate the crosses in the back like he did...
pretty much just like that minus the cross
