Hurst shifter Whoop!

Okay it's been done..
I'm getting a hurst shifter for my 96 w/ ax-15. Don't know how long its gonna take to get in but i figured i would get my questions answered in advance...

1) how hard is this to install? is it just unbolting the old replacing the new?
2) Will i need a new gasket? does the kit come with one?
3) Does anyone know if a smaller, matching shifter handle can be obtained for the t-case to match the tranny one?

I have one in my yj and it's awesome. it oly took about and hour to put in but my t case linkage bolts over it and i dont think they do in cherokees so thatll save you sometime. everything needed was included except for a bushing that you take off the stock shifter. I'm still looking for that matching t case knob a year later too so if you find one please let me know

i have one in my 93. its amazing. get some liquid gasket and a new shifter bushing from q-tec or the stealership or something. easy install once you get the shift boot off.

thought the shifter guasket was leaking last summer so while i was try to access it i broke the plastic retainer on the inside of the shift boot so it's already off. I'm planning on buying one of those crome plated hurst shift boots from autozone.
...turns out tranny fluid was too full and was "burping"

Every 11.2598 square inches of chrome equals 2.987 horsepower and 3.14 mpg. Be sure to use shiny hardware when putting it in for the maximum boost!!! good luck.

I didn't think this rule applied to jeeps... I thought it was every square foot of herculiner equals 4.72 hp, 1.2mpg, .3 db. louder exhaustand, and 1/2" of ground clearence

Accuracy, and the size ratios of the rod to the pivot point are different. Shifts are typically harder but more accurate and with a tight click.....at least this is what I experienced in my buddy's 5.0 Stang back in the day.

Let us know how the install goes, and how you like it afterward. I'm curious how it compares to the stock shifter.
