How-To: Mount Stock Center Caps WITHOUT Drilling In 9 Easy Steps!
Edit (9/12/2010) PLEASE NOTE: I do not advise using this method as a permanent solution, but rather to give you an idea of what your jeep will look like before you drill out your wheels. Due to the lug centric style of our jeeps, it is important that there is no interference between the lugs and actual wheel.
Ok folks, just tackled this tonight. I felt that my jeep was missing a part of it without center caps, so i wanted to mount the stock ones i already have from my 5 spoke steelies. First off i painted them black a while ago, but need repainted. I am skipping the painting for the write up. This takes a whole 5 minutes to do if you already have all of the supplies. **Additional note: this has been succussfully done using aluminum in place of tile, once more, do not mount with tile in cold weather as it will most likely just crack.** ![]() Tools for the Trade: Stock Center Cap (x4) 1/4" Stainless screws to replace stock ones 12x12 Lenoliem Tile any color (x4) Dremel w/ Cutoff wheel Drill with drill bit to fit the SS screws Phillips Screwdriver Sharpie Camera to take pics Any paint of choice (i will be doing black) Step 1: Start of by placing a 12x12 sheet of lenoliem tile on something that you can dremel on without worrying about damaging it. I chose some wood. Step 2: Place Center cap on said tile and trace it with a sharpie. Do this on the backside of the lenolium. ![]() Step 3: Trace a 3" diameter circle in the center. (i chose to do a pentagon, cause it was easier to do w/o a compass) ![]() Step 4: Cut the outside trace of the center cap ![]() Step 5: Cut out the center ![]() Step 6: Mark holes for screws on center caps, to do this i painted the holes and kinda "stamped" them on to see where they need to go. ![]() ![]() Step 7: Insert Stainless Steel screws into the holes you just drilled ![]() continue down...

Step 8: Tighten everything down (this is where you would have painted) Im painting later
![]() ![]() ![]() Step 9: MOUNT THOSE *****ES TO YOUR WHEELS!!! (undo all of the lugs nuts, place over studs, replace said lug nuts) Before: ![]() After, and no holes in my rims!: ![]() ![]() ![]() This costs me paint, which is like 3 bucks, and 12 stainless screws which are $.17 a piece. We had the lenolium tile laying around from when we built the house, and of course the tools needed. The best thing is that i have no holes in my rims, so I can see what it looks like before drilling. Total Cost: $5.04 |

Your rims might actually look good if they were left silver rather than painted black. Id have to see a pic though.

Im not sure. They could use another day to dry, and i dont know what the cold and rainy weather will do to non dry paint.
