well you have the stud, which just sits there and is being held in from inside the frame.

at this point the crossmember is out of the way.

put the nut that you took off of the stud back on the stud.

then put another nut below the nut that you just put on that stud and make sure its very tight

slip your wrench over the bottom nut on to the top one.

start loosening the stud, the top nut wont move because the bottom nut is in the way therefore the stud will be able to come out.

Not to bring back an old thread but everyone is talking about stripping the threads on the stud. Don't you use a new bolt anyways?

would there be any adverse affect if you installed a TC drop on a stock cherokee if you're planning on lifting it in the future? aka: make something bind up or anything of the nature?

Nope. Some people had some vibes stock, and the stealership did something like a tcase drop to fix it.

I'd wait till you lift it though.

Stuff hangs up otherwise.

Oh and if you dont wanna buy one you can make one for a few bucks at ACE...just get some 1" square tubing and longer bolts and you are ready to go.
This really helped me out. I just did this on my 98XJ and I tried the 2 nuts, it stripped the threads. Then i used a pipe wrench and they both came out not to bad at all. The 1" square metal tubing I bought from ace seems a little this but hopefully it holds up good. I just used a come-along to line up the holes again. I strapped it to the leaf spring and the cross member and slowly cranked down on the come-along to get them to line up. My vibes are gone, very very slight vibes, but someone in the car with me would not even notice.

Thanks much guys

This may be what I will try and do until spring and warmer weather comes along. I'll try the 1" square tube with a lot of pb blaster.

On my 01 Cherokee it has a stud on each side that sticks out from inside the frame, are these double ended studs on all Jeeps that will come out with the 2 nut trick? i want to do a tc drop but dont want the stud to break off and be s.o.l.
