how to go from 3-5 inches

hey everybody

well my parents said i could order my lift tonight, its for my birthday. im going to get a 3 inch rustys lift. but i think im going to stick with my 30s now seeing that i just got them about a month ago. and im going to wait till christmas to try to get some 32-33s.. now i know your saying wait.. theyres no way a 3 inch lift will do 33s. but i wanted to buy a cheap BB over the summer (coil spacer and shackle) for 2 more inches. and i was wondering what is NECESSARY to go from 3-5. i know SYE, and longer brakelines. i looked at control arms the other day and they were 300, for just lower or upper

so are they needed

thanks

33's will fit on 3"

i had 32's on 3" of lift and more room to trim.

if you want 5" now the re 3.5" is known to get around 4.5" when new and it takes a little while to settle. and it will save you some money in the long run.

if you want to go from 3" to 5" you could get away without upper control arms. but lca's and an adjustable trackbar are needed. and don't forget shocks

I went as cheap as possible with my lift setup and so far no ill effects. I recently went from 3" to 5".

i already had lca's
I redrilled my trackbar mount (some think it's hack but i don't see how drilling a hole exactly like the old one next to it has ill effects)

for the rear I added another leaf to my leaf pack.

my brakelines were already long enough so i didn't need any (i'm running yj brake hoses and my hard line is bent straight down.

my shocks were already long enough so i just kept them on there.

and I have no vibes and I don't know why, I guess np231 with a dana44 is the magical setup, but my driveshaft u-joints are just about at their peak before they start binding up, so I am saving for an sye and cv shaft.

I had the mentioned re 3.5 and I trimmed and bump stopped for 31's. I added a budget boost on top of the 3.5 (it was a full kit with lca's) and I had horrible handleing. I think you will want uca's, mine were stock and my axle was pulled very far back.

my handling isn't all that great, but it's a lifted jeep. As long as it's predictable I'm fine with it. I just have to keep the highway runs to a minimum when I don't have my swaybar on, those winds can make it kinda scary at times.
