Hot Floors
I removed the carpet in my '91 to fix som small rust spots in the floor and the carpet was so gross that i decided to leave it out and bedline the floor. I have been driving it for a little while with nothing on the floor and have noticed that the floors get very hot. Is there any thing i can put down before the bed liner to help insulate the floors? Or possibly some type of heat sheilding to put on the exhaust?

My floor gets pretty hot as well. I have thought about trying to fasten some heat insulation on the underbody, but I think that you would need quite a bit. The heat is coming off the exaust, engine, and the tranny. Seemed like more work than it was worth to me, but it is an idea.
Plus, it's like having heated floors in the winter!

You might want to check the cat. When it starts to go bad, the heat increase is very noticeable.

the exhaust going into the cat is cooler than the exhaust coming out of the cat, so the cat heats things up significantly anyway.
my floors get hot due to carpetless and i love how i can just hose it down to clean it, but it gets too friggin hot. i was thinking small sections of carpet attatched by velcro or something.

i had my muffler heat my floors up so much it melted a water bottle i had back there. and then there was a steam coming from under my seat and i was like what the . So I bought a flowmaster heat sheild from summit racing its a noticeable difference between with and without it. it costed me like 30 or 40 bucks and it deffinetly helped out.

Yep, Summit would be a good place to start. Here's ten pages of different heat insulation.

I think dynamat makes a heat insulating product that you could put down and then herculine it in.

how about a heat shield? Take some sheet metal and place it between cat and floor to absorb more heat?

So a heat shield above the cat and muffler looks like the best option. Also would the rubberized undercoating theat you spray on help with the heat? spraying it underneath before instattling th heat shield?

hot floors
if you are worried about the heat YOU feel as the driver, it's not from the cat or the muffler it's just as bills79jeep said it's from the engine, tranny and the section of exhaust from the manifold until it crosses over to the passenger side. I just drove mine 1600+ miles with over five hundred of those miles being on the beaches of n.c. with each day having a heat index of over 100 degrees. Mine is also herculined inside without a carpet and it didn't really bother me that much, it's only really hot near the trans tunnel while your driving. Get a small piece of dynomat glue it to a chunk of carpet and velcro it to the floor like ktmracer419 suggested. That will lesser yur heat problems and still allow you to remove the section of carpet for easy cleaning if you need...just my two cents
