You have great fabrication skills. Make some bumpers next with built in recovery points!

Sorry!

You can bolt directly to the stock roof rack, but it is not rated for very much weight. Just the roof rack you fabricated would probably take up half the maximum weight alone. The other methods are to use clips that mount into the water run off channels or bolt directly to the door pillars. Bolting to the door pillars will provide the best support, but may look bad if not executed properly.

That's the way I'd do it. the gutter mounts are alot stronger than mounting to a factory roof rack anyway.

Honestly I would lower it down some and mount it onto some bars instead. With the mounts being so high you are creating a possible buckle point on your bends. If you just plan on using the rack for light weight stuff then what you have should be fine. But if you plan on putting your spare up there or something I wouldn't trust those mounts. You could possible make some gussets to go from the bottom of the mounting plates to the bottom of the rack.

How do you plan on finishing those mounts? You plan on making the small curved plate that grabs the gutter move in an up and down plan to grasp the gutter right?

This is a pic from a Warrior rack I had.If you see there is one bolt that moves the clasp up and down. Then there are two other bolts that are in slots. When you get it clamped down on the rail you tighten the smaller bolts to keep it in place.

well that's as fare as I'm getting today maybe I'll try to put the mounts on it tomorrow.
The rack is 4" tall and 4'x5' and weights 40 pounds exactly
