Home made roof rack finally done w/pics
So I finally did the last little bit to my rack. I cut and bent a piece of sheet memtal for an air dam and added the lights I got for Christmas from my wife.
Check it out the rack is made from 1" square tubing. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice! What did you use for the bottom? Do you have a spec sheet with dimensions?
EDIT: Oh yeah, steel or aluminum?

Do you have any closeups of the brackets that fit in the factory rail? Where did you route the harness for the lights?

No specs we built it in place. I put pieces of angle iron where the existing roof rack mounted in 3 places on each side, measured the width and built the rack to fit around it. We set it on already built and welded it to the new mounts that were held in place with the factory hardware. There are holes in the air dam behind the lites and the wires go in through the roof and will be going to a panel that will be mounted were the existing interior light is.

How much does it weigh?
I started building one but abandoned the project when it started to weigh as much as I did, and I still didnt have the tire mount on it. lol. Yours looks fantastic, by the way. |

A conservative best guess would be 50-60 pounds

Grin thats a nice Jeep, and a fairly rare one, too. There arent many limiteds where I live, and chrome is even harder to find.
